Increase Cell Phone Signal

Cell phone signal boosters (repeaters) allow you to extend full cell phone signal coverage underground, inside buildings, or to areas without a nearby tower. A cell phone signal booster, also called cell phone repeater, is a 2 way (bi-directional) amplifier.

A booster amplifies the signal from the cell tower (downlink) to your cell phone, and also amplifies the signal from your cell phone to the remote cell tower (uplink). Hence it is a bi-directional (two way) amplifier.

Cell phone signal boosters work across a range of frequencies, typically for North America the two primary ranges are the 800 MHz Band (nominally based around 850MHz) and the 1900 MHz band, Other countries have slightly different frequencies but operate in both a high band and low band range. Generally speaking, but not exclusively, the lower bands are used in long distance cell phone coverage, while the higher bands are used in urban environments. Your cell phone will automatically switch between one of the two bands without you knowing it.

Cell phone signal operators (Telus, Bell, Rogers etc) have a narrow frequency band in which they transmit their signal. Quality boosters will be designed to operate in the appropriate frequency band specific to your country and operators requirements.

Narrow Band  vs. Wide Band

Cell phone signal boosters are further categorized as broad band, or narrow band.

Broad Band boosters work in the broadest spectrum of the appropriate frequency range and will cover the complete appropriate band.

Narrow Band boosters work in specified narrow frequency range and will only boost the precise signal in which they are designed to work.

Narrow band boosters will only work with one specified operators signal and consequently are dedicated to the carriers network. For example a narrow band booster will work on say a Bell network, but the same repeater will not work on a Rogers or Telus, or At&T network on the same frequency band. Consequently you will need a separate installation for  Rogers, Telus and AT&T networks. This can be expensive.

Broad band boosters will work with any signal operating in the broad spectrum range, and consequently are not limited to one carriers signal. For example a broad band booster working in the 800MHz band will work on the 800MHz Bell, Rogers, Telus and AT&T networks simultaneously; Therefore you will only need one installation in your building.

The advantage to the different types comes predominantly with installation costs. If your office/building has a range of users with a variety of carriers (normal situation) then a broad band booster will be a better option as you will only require one set of installed equipment.

If you use a narrow band booster in the same situation then you will have to install a number of boosters equal to the number of different cell phone signal carriers.

TELCOSAT CELL PHONE BOOSTERS ARE FULLY CERTIFIED

All boosters in North America are required to be independently certified to comply with FCC and/or Industry Canada regulations. Other countries have similar regulatory bodies which require specific certifications. Do not buy a booster unless it can be demonstrated that it meets your countries certifying body requirements.

You will be heavily fined if you are operating a booster without appropriate certification.

ALL TELCOSAT CELL PHONE BOOSTERS ARE FULLY CERTIFIED  and can provide wide area coverage for your home, ranch, office, small town, farm, mining operation, drilling rig, resort, lake side property, tropical Island and many more places.
